Position: Substitute Teacher

Applicants shall possess the skills and abilities necessary to support each child's physical, intellectual, personal, emotional and social development. Creative, energetic and dedicated candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Facilitate lesson plans, daily routines, and activities with all students based on the plans left by the Lead Teacher of the specific classroom.

  • Attend classes of the Early Childhood Center (I.e. Music Class) and remain with assigned class during all scheduled school and working hours.

  • Model appropriate classroom management skills.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom, returning equipment to its proper storage place, daily. Set up the classroom and put equipment and materials away, when students are not present.

  • Follow the established curriculum guide provided by the Director.

  • Establish a rapport with each child with whom s/he is working. The Teacher should foster self-confidence and a love of learning in each student.

  • Complete opening and closing cleaning procedures for the classroom. Extra cleaning duties as assigned.

  • Fulfill other duties as requested by the Director or the Head of Staff.

Requirements:

  • Must be available on short notice to fulfill Substitute Teacher responsibilities. This will be on a temporary basis to cover staff absences that may or may not be scheduled in advance.

  • Must always adhere to all COVID-19 protocols and procedures set forth including wearing a mask. Adapt to any/all changes that take place for the health and safety of students, families, and staff.

  • Master's Degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education and/or NYS Teacher Certification, preferred.

  • Must possess active Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, or Associate Degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education.

  • 2+ years in Early Childhood Education Experience, preferred.

  • CPR and First Aid Certification, preferred.

  • A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.

  • Ability to build relationships with families and coworkers and create a dynamic environment where learning and playing flourish.

  • Outstanding customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively.

  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Conflict/mediation skills and ability to work with diverse populations.

  • Planning and time management skills, as well as excellent computer and technology skills.

  • Leader, team player, and initiator with an approachable presence.

  • Must be physically able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors. Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.

Position:  Lead Teacher

Responsibilities and Functions: 

  • Attend all scheduled classes of the Early Childhood Center and remain with assigned class during all school hours. 

  • Meet with the Director and Assistant Director as required before school starts to prepare for the opening of school and as required, at the end of the year to put away supplies and evaluate the year. 

  • Conduct student assessments in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. 

  • Facilitate Parent-Teacher conferences. 

  • Participate and actively engage in in-service training. 

  • Lead Teacher’s Assistant(s) and establish roles and duties within assigned classrooms. 

  • Model appropriate classroom management skills. 

  • Collaborate with other teachers on weekly lesson plans and monthly newsletters and submit to the Director. 

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom, returning equipment to its proper storage place, daily. Set up the classroom and put equipment and materials away, when students are not present. 

  • Follow the established curriculum guide provided by the Director. 

  • Establish a rapport with each child with whom s/he is working.  The Teacher should foster self-confidence and a love of learning in each student.  

  • Arrange displays on the appropriately assigned hall and classroom bulletin boards. 

  • Fulfill other duties as requested by the Director, Assistant Director and/or the Head of Staff. 

Requirements:  

  • Must adhere to all COVID-19 protocols and procedures set forth including wearing a mask at all times and wearing a face shield for temperature checks. Adapt to any/all changes that take place for the health and safety of students, families, and staff. 

  • Master's Degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education and/or NYS Teacher Certification, preferred. 

  • Must possess active Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, or bachelor's degree in a field related to Early Childhood Education. 

  • 2+ years in Early Childhood Education Experience, preferred. 

  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain. 

  • A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day.  

  • Ability to build relationships with families and coworkers and create a dynamic environment where learning and playing flourish.

Position: Teacher’s Assistant

Responsibilities and Functions: 

  • Attend all scheduled classes of the Early Childhood Center and remain with assigned class during all school hours. 

  • The tasks of the Teacher’s Assistant will depend on the Teacher’s needs and desires as well as the needs of the children at any individual point in time.  The Teacher’s Assistant will fit into the carefully planned learning situation by requesting instructions from the Teacher each day.  Roles and duties of the Teacher’s Assistant should be worked out with the Teacher at the start of the school year, although the Teacher’s Assistant should maintain some flexibility so that the tasks of the day may be adjusted, as the situation requires it.  

  • The Teacher’s Assistant needs to establish a rapport with each child with whom they are working.  A sense of self-confidence and a love of learning on the part of the child should be fostered in the interaction with the Teacher’s Assistant. 

  • The Teacher’s Assistant may work to prepare materials for future projects when the children are busy with other activities. 

  • The Teacher and Teacher’s Assistant will discuss disciplinary methods together.  

  • The Teacher’s Assistant will be responsible for certain housekeeping duties, including, but not limited to at the beginning of each session prepare the snack for each classroom, cleaning and sanitizing classrooms and other areas. 

  • The Teacher’s Assistant will assist the Teacher and children in keeping the classroom clean and leave the room prepared for the next session, if necessary. 

  • Fulfill other duties as requested by the Director or the Head of Staff. 

Requirements: 

  • Must adhere to all COVID-19 protocols and procedures set forth including wearing a mask at all times and wearing a face shield for temperature checks. Adapt to any/all changes that take place for the health and safety of students, families, and staff. 

  • High School Diploma. 

  • Must possess active Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and meet NAEYC candidacy requirements (or willing to obtain) or bachelor's degree in an Early Childhood related field. 

  • 1+ year in Early Childhood Education Experience, preferred. 

  • A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day. 

  • Ability to build relationships with families and coworkers and create a dynamic environment where play and learning happens. 

  • Outstanding customer service skills, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively. 

  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain. 

  • Must be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors. Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.
